Olfactory swabbing in prion and other neurodegenerative disorders
Olfactory mucosa swabbing might represent a first-line and non-invasive screening procedure in patients with suspected neurodegenerative dementia. Hence the possibility of implementing early therapy to halt the evolution of diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s.
