Simplified fluidification phase

Sputum dipper or pipette?

SLsolution™ liquifying capabilities eliminate the need for rehydration, bringing sputum specimens back to a standard easy-to-process liquid media. The combination of SLSolution™ with Sputum Dipper our tool designed to ease the processing of sputum samples – helps to get rid of issues caused by viscous samples. Alternatively, SLSolution™ can also be paired with a single-use transfer pipette.

Automation and downstream applications

Fluidifying for good

SLSolution™ is suitable for manual handling and automatic processing with WASP®. Downstream applications are multiple: culture, Gram stain, rapid antigen testing, and molecular assays.

Make your work to flow

Simplify handling of challenging sputum specimens, save cost and avoid waste with this ready-to-use device.

Quick fluidification

It takes just 30 minutes at room temperature for an effective sputum fuidification.

No rehydratation needed

There is no need for rehydration of powder or dilution of liquid concentrate. Tubes of reagent are ready to mix with your sample.

Preservation and storage times

Preservation of microrganisms is guaranteed for up to 6 hours at room temperature.
SLsolution™ comes with a shelf-life of 12 months at room temperature.

Different configurations

SLsolution™ is available in a kit combined with a transfer device – the Sputum Dipper or a transfer pipette – or in bulk.

Journal of Cystic Fibrosis 2019 – Carter S. et al.

Cystic Fibrosis sputum was processed using COPAN SL solution on the FilmArray® platform and these results suggest that sputum may be a more sensitive method for detecting respiratory viruses in CF.

Journal of Clinical Virology 2021 – Egerer R. et al.

The manufacturer of the eazyplex® assay recommends to elute dry swabs in Copan SL solution and to use 25 μl as sample volume for mixing with the RALF reaction buffer.

ASM 2011 – C. Young

SL processing solution using the sputum dipper is an efficient system to liquefy sputum for manual or automated processing. SL is better than standard processing for CF and non-CF sputum. For CF sputum there was improved recovery of all organisms and significant increase of PA strains.
