Why a swab solution?

Get to the point

Hard-to-reach spots and uneven surfaces are by definition problematic for sanitization and thus need to be accurately screened. Compared with contact plates, swabbing offers many advantages as it enables the collection from these articulated, uneven or irregular surfaces while improving sample recovery, release and avoiding agar residues.

Sanitizing agents inactivation

Find what’s really there

When a microorganism survives in a constantly sanitized ambient, it is often low-counting, making the detection really tricky.
SRK® gives you a clear view of your environment’s real status: the isotonic solution inactivates sanitizing agents residuals that might be present on the surface at the time of collection.

Application

HAI

SRK® was first conceived to address the need of Hospitals for a flexible and easily processable device to boost the efficacy of environmental screenings.

Copan Group

Application

Pharma

White-rooms are by definition the “one bacteria is one too many” environments. Here SRK®’s media composition gives its best for the detection of that one.

Application

Food & Personal Care

Because of the variety of possible needs, Food, Personal Care and Pharma industries will gain the most from the wide range of rinse solutions, liquid fill volumes, swab choices and packaging configurations.

A big and diversified family

The SRK® kit is available in a wide range of media, volumes, swab types and number. This allows it to fit any application and the main testing methods as culture and molecular assays.

Media choice for enhanced preservation

Choose between an isotonic solution or a wide range of selective and enrichment broths: Half Fraiser, RVS, BPW 1%, TSB, UNS, and Letheen broth.

Sterile sampling frames

The definition of a set sampling area is essential for microbial bioburden validations. Sampling frames will make your surface sampling match that standard.

The perfect match

Microorganisms 2020 – Cicciarella Modica D. et al.

Alginate-tipped sterile swabs were used to sample the touchscreen surface; the usual procedures for small environmental surfaces were applied [19–24]. Swabs were then re-suspended in 2.5 mL SRK® solution (Copan).

Data Brief 2018 – De Filippis P. et al.

In addition to water samples, we collected biofilm samples from the surface and inside of all shower heads by the use of sterile swabs in alginate fiber (SRK®, COPAN). Inner surfaces were sampled through the removal and disassembly of the showerheads. The swab is generally used to sample irregular surfaces and, due to the difficulty of calculating the sampled area.

A Case Study ECCMID 2021 – Turba ME et al.

To verify the effectiveness of the sanitization treatment, environmental swabs were carried out using a regular flocked swab and collected in a Copan SRK® 1 ml medium (Copan) according to standard procedures. A total of 6 samples were collected from surfaces and objects were identified as potentially contaminated by SARS-Co-2.

World Microbe Forum 2021 – Beffa et al.

Data obtained showed that samples stability for viral RNA detection is possible up to 7 days of storage in Copan SRK®, both at refrigerated temperature and RT, with a difference in Ct values lower than 1.

World Microbe Forum 2021 – Gololobova TV et al.

Surfaces in contact with the medical staff’s clothing (elements of patient beds, lockers for staff uniforms) were also contaminated with microorganisms. SRK® kit was able to identify 80% more Colony Forming Unit (CFU) than standard approach performed by cotton swab with 1% buffered peptone water tube.
