Bacterial transport basics

A simple, low bioburden, device for every investigation. Just uncap, collect and recap the tube!

Swab variety

Various swab sizes to reach different collection sites.

Media assortment

PLoS One 2017 – Torres AU et al.

Copan Transystem™ were collected from traditional sites: nares, throat, axilla, inguinal skin folds, and vagina, and from 3 novel sites: upper back, interdigital web spaces (IDWS) of hands and perineal-perianal area.

J Infect Dis 2016 – Lynch T. et al.

Rectal swabs were placed into Copan M40 Transystem™ containing Amies gel transport medium, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (Atlanta, Georgia) protocol was used to screen for CR gram-negative bacteria. Specimens collected from different surfaces in patient’s rooms by means of sterile rayon swabs were cultured for K. pneumoniae.

J Clin Microbiol 2016 – Tato M. et al.

A double swab set (Venturi Transystem™; Copan) and transport medium were used to collect and transport rectal swab specimens from eligible subjects. One swab was used for reference culture, susceptibility testing, and sequencing, and another swab was used for the Xpert Carba-R
