One tube, multiple possibilities

MSwab® medium provides homogeneous aliquots of the sample suspension to run multiple tests from the same tube.
In the laboratory, specimens collected in MSwab® can be analyzed using standard clinical procedures for bacterial culture of aerobic and facultative anaerobic gram-positive microorganisms, Viral culture of HSV 1 HSV 2 viruses, and viral and bacterial nucleic acid detection.

Molecular biology made fast

MSwab® proprietary formulation makes the processing of samples for NAAT assays easy and rapid.

Ensure a quick, capillarity-driven sample uptake and a superior elution of the biological specimen, expanding downstream diagnostic testing capabilities.

Direct nucleic acids extraction

MSwab® enables the preparation of a crude lysate in less than 5 minutes and a rapid direct nucleic acid heat extraction, eliminating the need for a purification step.

Directly in your assay

After extraction, MSwab® collected samples can be aliquoted directly into your Master Mix, making direct molecular assays even faster.

DNA &RNA stabilization

MSwab® preserves specimens for bacterial or viral investigations up to 48h when stored at room or refrigerated temperature.

The perfect match

FLOQSwabs® Inside

Pathology 2021 – Badman SG et al.

Overall, the MSwab® was the only media that provided detection of HPV to the fifth dilution for all cell lines. These pre-liminary data suggest MSwab® media may be a viable alternative to ThinPrep when testing for HPV at or near the POC.

BMC Infect Dis 2017 – Schenee SV et al.

Nasopharyngeal swabs were collected by local staff in 1 ml MSwab® transport media (VTM). 200 μl of the VTM were directly used for point-of-care testing with the Alere i RSV assay. The remaining sample was transferred to the virology diagnostic laboratory and stored in 200 μl aliquots at −80 °C until further analysis.

Journal of Clinical Virology 2013 – Mahony J et al.

The MSwab® diluent is designed to release nucleic from cells and be compatible with polymerases used in NAATs. In our hands the MSwab® diluent was superior to other diluents that we tested.

European Journal of Microbiology and Immunology 2019 – Von Allmen N. et al.

Copan’s MSwab® system is validated for use with MRSA/SA and HSV 1 and 2 assays on a Roche’s cobas 4800 system and for limited mostly Gram-positive aerobic bacterial cultures. Specimen collection using eSwab® or MSwab® facilitates efficient processing for chromogenic culture in full laboratory automation while also allowing molecular testing in automated PCR systems.
